2014 Estate Viognier
Our 2014 estate Viognier is an ample, lush white wine combining richness and delicacy. The wine opens full and unctuous, the apricot, white peach, pear and floral aromas are opulent, heady , richly perfumed and luxurious. The wine finishes with deep flavors and a strong length. This is our fourth Viognier release . . . sensual and hedonistic accompaniment to foie gras, lobster, scallops and spicy asian foods.
Our Estate Viognier was hand harvested on September 8th from our highest hillside block planted in 2006 and for only the second time from our two small blocks in front of the cave planted in 2009. The grapes were immediately whole cluster basket pressed and settled for 24 hours, then barrel fermented dry in experienced French oak barrels. Malo-lactic fermentation was induced on January 7, 2015. The lees were stirred periodically. Our Estate Viognier was filtered and bottled on June 5, 2015 with a TA of 0.70, ph of 3.48 and an alcohol 15 1/2%.
Only 52 cases were produced.
