2014 Estate Syrah
We are pleased to release our Dry Creek Valley 2014 Estate Syrah this month. the sense of place is real, the wine is very deep and sensual in the glass with an intense, dark color, an almost light bending black,. You will find essences of dark blue-black fruits, along with complex aromas of anise, vanilla, bay laurel, olive, smoked meats, and mocha. Expect your wine to arrive during the month of October. This Syrah was hand harvested on September 5th and September 12th 2014, with sugars averaging about 24.5 brix. About 3% Viognier was picked and added to the open top fermentors. The must was cold-soaked for three days. The must was then inoculated with Syrah yeast, the cap hand punched three times a day. Basket pressed between September 18th and 26th into 400 liter Taransaud French Oak where it aged for three years. The wine was bottled, unfined and unfiltered on September 1 and 2, 2017 with a TA of 0.70, ph of 3.97 and an alcohol of 15.2%. We produced 540 cases of 750 ml bottles ($48 per bottle) and 48 magnum bottles ($110 per bottle).
